Reflection on the process of blogging

I never knew how to blog, for me this was a new challenge and I took it by the horns. I have learnt that blogs can help other people, with the ideas that you share. They can use that to better or improve their way of teaching.

I learned that by reading you can open the world. Not only books, but people’s thoughts or ideas on how to teach. By helping others you open a world of help for yourself. People will give you advice on how to do things better.

Mostly I could relate to people who had the same experience as me when it came to the teaching practical. Some had bad experiences and some had good. But some also had a bad start that got better. This I got from reading the people’s blogs.

I think this subject wanted to teach us that there is a bigger world out there. People can help one another when they work together. By blogging you can “steal”, if I may use the word , other ideas to better your teaching experience.

Once you start blogging you will enjoy it because it becomes part of your life, so keep the teacher’s vibes coming!

Is it necessary to integrate social media in the classroom? How can I use forums like blogs, Facebook, twitter etc. to be a good teacher?

I believe it is necessary to bring these forums into teaching but only to the schools that give the children the chance to use social media in the school time. The reason is because if a child that does not have the privileges to have these devices that hold or make it possible to use these forums will be looked down on by the children who have these privileges. Forums can help keep children up to date on tests and on tasks. It can also make it possible to have the entire years test and task dates on it.

How did teaching practice change my idea of how I see myself as a ‘teacher’?

At start I did not believe that this was the right direction I wanted to go. I hated the first two weeks of my teaching practice mostly because I always had to observe and take notes on how the teacher gave her lessons. The third week completely changed my way on how I see myself as a teacher. When I had the chance to stand in front of the class and give a lesson I knew this was for me. I made class fun with games and that was something my mentor teacher did not do.

How do I see myself as a teacher?

I will be the teacher who takes everyday problems and work them into my lesson. I will bring fun energetic ways of teaching to the table. Kids will learn by having fun. I believe that a child only learns while having fun. To be a boring teacher will get you nowhere, learners will not remember the work you are trying to carry over.

Why I want to be a teacher and the characteristics of a ‘good’ teacher. Do you think you will be a ‘good’ teacher?

I believe I will be a good teacher because I have the ability to work with people. I can work in groups and that helps me in a class aspect. A good teacher should always have respect for people and should be able to work with them. He/ she should be able to understand people, he/ she should have a passion for teaching. Discipline plays a big role in a teacher’s life. Discipline comes along with trust. Your students should trust you and then they will listen to you.
